MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Russia condemns the derailment of humanitarian efforts in the besieged Syrian city of Aleppo by the radical opposition, the Russian Foreign Ministry said Monday, reaffirming its readiness to introduce 48-our humanitarian pauses where accessible.

Zakharova accused the "jihadist opposition" of imposing "last-moment unacceptable and unrealistic conditions" after consenting to sending a convoy of trucks with food for the civilian population.

"Such a demonstratively defiant step clearly displays the true face of these pseudo-fighters for the Syrian people, who do not hesitate to use their [civilian population's] precarious humanitarian situation to achieve their destructive goals," she stressed.

The ministry spokeswoman affirmed Moscow’s readiness to introduce 48-hour humanitarian pauses across the remaining accessible areas of Aleppo, and to continue coordinating humanitarian efforts in the besieged city with the United Nations.
