"Regime of silence", established in Syria, has been prolonged until midnight July 11, the Russian Defense Ministry said Sunday.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Syria has been mired in civil war since 2011, with government forces loyal to Syrian President Bashar Assad fighting numerous opposition factions and extremist groups.

"'Silence regime', which had been established in the territory of the Syrian Arab Republic, has been prolonged by 72 hours until 23.59 on July 11, 2016," the ministry said in a daily bulletin posted on its website.

The Russian center for Syrian reconciliation at the Hmeimim airbase registered two violations of the ceasefire regime in Syrian Province of Damascus in the last 24 hours, the Russian Defense Ministry said.

"The ceasefire has been observed in most provinces of the Syrian Arab Republic. Within last 24 hours, 2 ceasefire violations have been registered in the Damascus province."

Furthermore, according to the ministry, a total number of inhabited areas, the leaders of which had signed reconciliation agreements, has reached 177.

The Russia-US brokered ceasefire regime in Syria came into force on February 27. The al-Nusra Front and the Daesh terrorist groups, which are outlawed in Russia, are not covered by the ceasefire deal.
