According to Russian Natural Resources Minister Yuri Trutnev, high water this year is expected much earlier than usual in many regions across the country and is likely to cause ecological problems. The water level in the Moscow River may rise to 80 cm during the thaw, after Moscow experienced one of the snowiest winters in recent years, with an average 57 cm of snow across the city.
