Seven parties competing in Kyrgyzstan's parliamentary elections on Sunday secured enough votes to win seats in the assembly, according to an exit poll conducted by Kyrgyz NGOs.

The poll showed the Ar-Namys party of former prime minister Felix Kulov leading with 18.66 percent, followed by the Social Democratic Party on 17.23 percent. Ar-Namys opposes the new parliamentary republic approved in a referendum in June while the Social Democrats are led by Almazbek Atambayev, who was prime minister under current President Roza Otunbayeva and campaigned for the constitutional reforms.

The nationalist Ata-Zhurt party, another opponent of the new constitution, has 14.05 percent and the pro-constitution Ata-Meken got 13.28 percent, according to the poll.

The balance of power in the parliament could be held by the Respublika party, which has not sided with either the interim government or the opposition but received 10.61 percent in exit polling. The other two parties passing the 5 percent threshold to enter parliament are Ak-Shumkar (7.03 percent) and United Kyrgyzstan (6.12 percent).

According to the exit poll, the remaining 22 parties split 13 percent of the vote.
