The Kyrgyz Central Election Commission said on Sunday that no serious violations were registered during parliamentary elections in the Central Asian republic.

The Kyrgyz Central Election Commission said on Sunday that no serious violations were registered during parliamentary elections in the Central Asian republic.

"By now, the Central Election Commission has received about 130 complaints largely dealing with citizens' desire to vote at places other than the place of their registration," Antonina Li, a commission member, said.

She also said that at some polling stations problems had emerged with ballot box overfilling as a large number of parties were participating in the poll.

"We allowed transferring ballot papers in the presence of observers from ballot boxes into special bags," she said.

Kyrgyzstan is holding on Sunday parliamentary elections expected to lead the impoverished ex-Soviet republic into a new legitimate government after the former president, Kurmanbek Bakiyev, was ousted in April this year in a bloody revolution.

Twenty-nine parties are competing for seats in Kyrgyzstan's 120-member parliament, which will see its powers increase as part of constitutional changes approved in late June in a national referendum.

Although the authorities have said that the elections were proceeding without any violations, opposition parties participating in the poll claimed that they had registered breaches of electoral law.

Ex-premier and leader of Ar-Namys opposition party Felix Kulov said on Sunday that the authorities had failed to provide conditions for honest parliamentary elections in the country.
