Lawmakers from Ukraine's opposition Yulia Tymoshenko bloc walked out of parliament on Thursday in protest against the majority coalition's refusal to impose a moratorium on the increase of utility charges and the retirement age.

Parliament's fall session opened in Kiev on Tuesday amid protest rallies over the government's plans.

The majority coalition, dominated by the Party of Regions, said the matter was not significant enough to be considered a priority issue.

"We are leaving the hall as a sign of protest," said Ivan Kyrylenko, a senior member of the Yulia Tymoshenko bloc, adding that other measures undertaken by the opposition had yielded no results.

Ukrainian Prime Minister Mykola Azarov said on Wednesday the Ukrainian government was ready to work with the opposition, but had not yet received any "constructive proposals."
