Participants in the Trans-Asian Parliamentary Forum titled "The OSCE Eurasian Dimension" which is under way in Kazakhstan's largest city of Almaty, will discuss on Saturday the situation in Kyrgyzstan, which has been hit by a new wave of unrest.
The situation in Kyrgyzstan, where a bloody uprising led to the overthrow of the government in early April, worsened on Thursday when administrative buildings in three southern regions — deposed President Kurmanbek Bakiyev's former power base — were stormed by his supporters.
A spokeswoman for a pro-Bakiyev group has said on Friday eight Bakiyev supporters were killed and forty injured in clashes with backers of the interim government in the city of Jalalabad.
The Kyrgyz Health Ministry said 63 had been hospitalized following the unrest, with 15 in serious condition. It said one person had died after being hospitalized.
President of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly Joao Soares, Kyrgyz interim government spokesman Abdygany Erkebayev and Kazakhstan's envoy to Kyrgyzstan Zahnibek Karibzhanov are among those expected to deliver speeches during the talks in Almaty.
Bakiyev has refused to hand over power to the self-declared Kyrgyz interim government unless he is guaranteed safety and amnesty for himself and his relatives.
Interim leader Roza Otunbayeva has not ruled out criminal charges against the ouster president for the bloody unrest in the country, which has claimed more than 80 lives and left over 1,500 people injured.
Kazakhstan currently holds the rotating chair of the OSCE, being the first former Soveit state to perform the honorary duty.
The parliamentary forum in Almaty will run until May 16.
