Children from Russia and China participated on Tuesday in an event called "Draw the Future Together" at the Russian pavilion at the Shanghai 2010 World Expo.

The event, which is taking place on the occasion of International Children's Day, involved more than 40 children from Russia and China, who drew their vision of the city the future.

The Russian participants are the winners of a national contest "City Of Future Through Children's Eyes." Their Chinese friends are students learning Russian at the Shanghai School of Foreign Languages.

The Chinese students showed the visitors of the Russian pavilion the art of face painting. The most popular drawings were Russia and China, as well as the national flags of both countries.

A children's dance group from the Consulate General of Russia in Shanghai and a children's choir from the Chinese province of Guizhou also performed before the visitors.

Children were the most important guests at the Russian pavilion on Tuesday. Each child aged up to 7 received a toy as a present from the administration. Over 200,000 children have visited the pavilion since its opening on May 1.

More than 8 million people attended the 2010 World Expo in Shanghai in the first month since its opening. Up to 70 million people are expected to visit the city for the event, which will last until October 31.
