Finnish President Tarja Halonen has urged bilateral cooperation with Russia in the areas presented at Russia's Expo-2010 pavilion in Shanghai.
The 6,000-square-meter sun-shaped pavilion, dominated by fairy-tale motifs, comprises 12 white-and-gold towers symbolizing the 12 months of the year, showing a comfortable city environment as seen through the eyes of children.
It showcases Russia's recent scientific and economic development and offers a diverse cultural program.
"Russia and Finland are neighbors and should actively cooperate including in those spheres presented at your exposition," Halonen said on Sunday.
"The idea of presenting the world of the future through the eyes of children is as beautiful as the idea of combining science with a fairy tale," the Finnish leader wrote in a book of honored guests.
The 2010 World Expo is held in Shanghai from May 1 to October 31, 2010. Up to 70 million people are expected to visit the city for the event, which has seen investment of up to $4 billion.
