MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Air travelers were asked to come to the check-in two hours earlier after police boosted presence at the airport over security concerns.
"The reinforced security measures at GVA airport will be progressively stopped," police tweeted.
The Swiss Office of the Attorney General, titled the Public Ministry, said the airport customs service received a phone call from a woman on Tuesday warning that a suicide bomber planned to show up at the airport’s French section the next day.
"The Public Ministry, Geneva police and French authorities have conducted an investigation which permitted them to identify and interrogate the caller, who admitted it was a false alert," the ministry’s statement read.
Security has been boosted at major transport hubs across Europe in the aftermath of terrorist attacks, including the suicide bombing of a Brussels airport last March.
