Brexit Equates to British People Taking Back Control of Country - UK Party

The Brexit referendum results mean that the British people have the courage to reclaim control over their country and their lives from the European Union, despite threats from the international community, Eurosceptic UK Independence Party (UKIP) leader Nigel Farage said.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — According to Farage, there were "threats and bullying" coming from the international community, US President Barack Obama, the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), UK Chancellor of the Exchequer George Osborne and the Bank of England against supporters of UK "independence" from the European Union.

"Who would’ve believed that British people would have had the courage to say: ’no no no, we are not listening, we actually want to take back control of our country, our democracy, and our lives. That’s what happened," Farage told the broadcaster RT in an interview.

According to the UKIP leader, Europe needs to trade with the United Kingdom more than the British people need to trade with the bloc, hence there should be a trade agreement reached between the sides that is beneficial for London.

On June 23, the United Kingdom held a referendum to determine whether or not the country should leave the European Union. According to the final results, 51.9 percent of voters, or 17.4 million people, decided to support Brexit, while about 16.1 million opposed it.
