For the first time in the history of the prestigious International Architecture Biennale in Venice Russia’s pavilion won the prize of the jury, the press service of the Skolkovo foundation said on Wednesday.

Russia is represented by a team from Skolkovo, Russia’s futuristic city-in-planning, at the Architecture Biennale, which has been held since 1980. The two floors of the Russian pavilion bisect the exhibition space. The first floor features the history of Soviet closed towns, while the second floor presents Skolkovo and its innovations.

“We feel proud and we are happy with the work done, looking forward for further successful participation in architectural competitions of such a high level,” the press service quoted Skolkovo Foundation President Viktor Vekselberg as saying.

The theme of this year’s exhibition, which opened on August 29 and will run til November 25, is “Common Ground”.
