Films by three Russian directors will be featured at the 69th Venice Film Festival, including one on the festival’s main program.

"The Betrayal" by Kirill Serebrennikov will be one of 17 films competing for the festival’s main award, the Golden Lion.

“To be in the main competition next to such names is already a victory. We hope that the Venice Film Festival will give us a wonderful start for the release of the Betrayal,” the film’s producer, Sabina Yeremeyeva said.

Other Russian films, "Anton's Right Here" by Lyubov Arkus and "I Also Want It" by Alexei Balabanov, will be shown out of competition.

Two Russian directors have won Golden Lions in the past. Andrei Zvyagintsev won in 2004 for his film debut, "The Return," and Alexander Sokurov won the top prize seven years later for "Faust."

The festival will be held on August 28-Septemebr 8.
