ORSK, October 1 (RIA Novosti) – Investigators said Tuesday that they have completed the case of an 18-year-old man suspected of murder, rape, sexual assault and theft all over the course of a single crime-packed night in Russia's Urals city of Orsk last spring.
On the night of March 13, the suspect – then 17 years old – took a cab home while drunk, according to a statement posted on the local Investigative Committee website.
Upon arrival, he claimed not to have any money and told the driver he would go inside to fetch cash. He instead armed himself with two knives and then, not wanting to pay for the ride, started an argument with the driver and stabbed him in the neck, investigators say.
The driver escaped from the car and asked passersby for help. He was hospitalized, but died from his injuries the next day, the statement said.
Investigators say the suspect took the car and fled, but lost control of the vehicle and struck two female pedestrians – 18- and 19-year-old girls – then hit a pole. He then got into an altercation with the women, stabbing the 18-year-old multiple times, as well as a man who tried to come to her aid.
Officials said the stabbing victims escaped, but that the suspect took the 19-year-old girl captive and forcibly brought her back to his house, threatening her with the knife. He later repeatedly raped and sexually assaulted her.
The suspect pled guilty to only some of the charges against him, the statement said, though the police say they have evidence linking him to all charges.

Russia has surged ahead on the foreign policy stage, but this is not enough to remain a great power. The tough-minded policies and masterful diplomacy of Russia’s leadership have maximized the country’s position in the world, and are now the main source of its international influence and prestige. Russia’s foreign policy in the next decade depends entirely on what happens at home.
