Workers at a central Russian nuclear power plant construction site killed a colleague over his poor performance, after a boozy party, local investigators said Friday.

VORONEZH, September 20 (RIA Novosti) – Workers at a central Russian nuclear power plant construction site killed a colleague over his poor performance, after a boozy party, local investigators said Friday.

The body of a 27-year old man showing signs of a violent death was found on Monday in the city of Novovoronezh, the local Investigative Committee said in a statement.

A team of six construction workers had been drinking in a private apartment that day, and a foreman and another worker started teasing one of their colleagues for “doing a bad job,” the statement said.

They then assaulted the man, who later died of his injuries, the statement said.

Local media cited sources in an engineering company affiliated with the Rosatom nuclear energy corporation as saying that the victim and assailants were employed by a subcontractor.

The suspects have been detained and a criminal case has been opened, the committee said. They face up to 15 years in prison if convicted.
