MOSCOW, August 30 (RIA Novosti) - Policemen detained a citizen of Cameroon, who allegedly stole 250,000 ($7,500) from a Muscovite in a social website fraud, a statement from the Moscow police said.
According to the statement, the arrested suspect got connected with his victim through a social website and pretending to be a US woman offered him to convert into cash some $4 million.
The suspect asked the Muscovite to send him 250,000 rubles to cover the costs of the financial operation.
“After the money was transferred the suspect told the victim that the sum was insufficient and some 100,000 rubles [$3,000] were needed in addition,” the statement said. “The Muscovite suspected something wrong and called the police.”
