ASTRAKHAN, July 2 (RIA Novosti) – A man in Russia’s southern Astrakhan Region will go on trial for killing the woman he lived with as he “hunted extraterrestrials,” the Investigative Committee said on Tuesday.
After killing the 33-year-old woman, the man told his relatives that he had eliminated an alien, the committee said in a statement.
He stabbed the woman several times with a kitchen knife, dismembered her body and put the body parts in the refrigerator. The following day he told his brother he had met an extraterrestrial and "dealt with it," the statement said. When his brother found the body parts, he informed the police.
Investigators came to the conclusion that the man was insane when he committed the crime and had him committed to a psychiatric hospital.
The criminal case will now go to court to allow the man to be forcibly treated by doctors, the committee said, without providing a date.
