Nearly 200 kilograms of heroin was confiscated on the Kazakh-Kyrgyz border by Kazakh customs officers, the press service for the customs control department in southern Kazakhstan reported on Wednesday.

“On September 4, 2012, a car with a trailer traveling from Kyrgyzstan to Kazakhstan was stopped at the Karasu customs check point. One hundred ninety kilograms of a narcotic substance, heroin, was found in the car” the statement said.

Sniffer dogs were able to pinpoint a clay-colored substance in the back of the car.

The customs officers believe the drug was prepared in Afghanistan and was planned to be transported to Europe.

“Taking into account the price of Afghan heroin, $1 million dollars per kilogram, the price of this is about $190 million,” the statement said.
