Blocking access to social networking websites, proposed by British Prime Minister David Cameron in an attempt to stop riots and looting, is not the best way to deal with the unrest, foreign media said.
While making the proposal, Cameron did not specify how access to social media should be restricted. It is unclear whether social networking websites will be blocked completely or access will be limited only for users suspected of illegal activities.
Rioters in London and other cities used communication services to coordinate their activities, including a messenger service for RIM BlackBerry smartphones and social networking sites Facebook and Twitter.
