PRAGUE, September 21 (RIA Novosti) - The deliveries of Russian gas through the Ukrainian territory have been reduced by 10 percent, a representative for Slovakia's electricity and gas supplier SPP told RIA Novosti Sunday.

"On Sunday, September 21, SPP recorded a 10 percent decrease in Russian gas supply," a spokesperson for the company Peter Bednar said, adding that the company recorded a 20-25 percent decrease in the deliveries in the course of the week.

Wednesday, Slovakia's Minister of Economy Pavol Pavlis said Russian gas supplier Gazprom explained Slovakia that the non-fulfilment of the delivery of requested volumes of gas is due to technical problems.

However, the Gazprom CEO Alexei Miller earlier said that the claims concerning the short deliveries of Russian gas, made by some European nations, were related to extra volumes, while the contracted ones are delivered in full.

In June, Russia introduced prepayment mode of gas deliveries to Ukraine over its $5.3 billion debt and warned that it could reduce gas supplies to Europe if Kiev siphons off gas transited to Europe through its territory. Trilateral talks on the issue between Moscow, Kiev and Brussels are scheduled at September 26, according to Russian Energy Minister.
