MOSCOW, September 2 (RIA Novosti) – Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev will discuss the petitions of foreign investors regarding Russian companies engaged in the manufacture of pharmaceuticals, heat-exchange equipment and building materials, with a special state commission, the press service of the government reported.

"Medvedev will hold a regular meeting of the Government Commission on Monitoring Foreign Investment in the Russian Federation. The meeting will feature petitions by foreign investors for preliminary approval of transactions involving Russian business entities whose activities are connected with the production of pharmaceuticals, heat-transfer equipment and building materials," the press service said in a statement.

This commission monitors foreign investment in companies of strategic importance for national defense and security. The deals that allow a foreign investor, or a group of persons with its participation, to gain control over strategic companies, are subject to prior agreement with the commission.

In 2013, Russian Federal Antimonopoly Service considered 33 petitions for transactions in respect of the assets of such enterprises. The commission is headed by the Prime minister. As a rule, the meetings are held once a quarter.

The meeting will be attended by Deputy Prime Minister Arkady Dvorkovich, Justice Minister Alexander Konovalov, Industry and Trade Minister Denis Manturov, Economic Development Minister Alexei Ulyukayev and Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu.

Head of the Federal Antimonopoly Service Igor Artemyev will inform the commission of the decisions on the applied petitions and requests received from foreign investors since the previous meeting.
