South Korea, Mordovia to establish LED production

A Russian-South Korean joint venture, to be established in Mordovia, will manufacture light-emitting diodes. Plans call for a facility with a monthly production capacity of 300,000 energy-efficient light sources. An agreement has been signed by Nikolai Merkushkin, Head of the Republic of Mordovia, and Byung Koo Lee, CEO of South Korea’s NEPES Corporation, said the press service оf Mordovia.

Production of light-emitting diodes (LEDs) will be launched in the republic by the spring of 2012, the first production line would be delivered from South Korea to Mordovia in the near future. Initial monthly output is to total 300,000 LEDs, and production capacity will be expanded later, the press release noted.

NEPES Corporation, which has been operating for over 20 years, has six plants in South Korea and two plants outside the country. The corporation concentrates on the production of energy-efficient lights based on LED technology.
