Russia produced 505 million tons of oil in 2010 and must maintain similar output levels in the future, Prime Minister Vladimir Putin said on Wednesday.

"We are to maintain such an output level in the coming years," Putin told a cabinet meeting on the development of the energy industry, adding that this concerned domestic and foreign demand.

He said the launch of new deposits in East Siberia boosted Russia's oil output last year.
