Russian Marussia sport supercars have gone on sale in Moscow for around 100,000 euros, Marussia Motors CEO Nikolai Fomenko told a business daily on Monday.
Despite the steep price tag, in four years' time sales of the mainly hand-tooled vehicle will overtake those of Lamborghini and Ferrari, he told the Vedomosti paper.
The assembly plant, located in Moscow, can manufacture 300 cars a year but has the capacity to produce up to 2,000.
The Marussias - there are three models - are 80% constructed in Russia. The rest are produced under cooperation agreements with the world's leading auto components manufacturers, such as Canada's KW and Britain-based Cosworth.
The current models include B1 and B2 Grand Turismo. Marussia SUVs are expected to hit the market next spring.
The company has about 700 orders, mainly from Germany, Britain and France, Fomenko said. The first deliveries are due to be made in November.
The Marussia is geared toward the European market, while its prospects in Russia are bleak, according to Alexander Plokhikh, head of the Mercury auto division (Ferrari, Maserati and Bentley distributor).
