The Moscow Region attracted more than $1.6 billion in foreign investment in the first six months of 2010, a senior official said on Wednesday.
“The amount of foreign investment in the first half of the year has reached $1.6 billion,” said Igor Nikolayevsky, the first deputy minister of external economic relations in the local government.
The official said the direct foreign investment was slightly below expectations with a decline of 13% from the previous year.
Meanwhile, the investment outlook in the region is upbeat as 15 new foreign enterprises are to start working by the end of the year, and five have been already put into operation, he said.
