Russia's flagship air carrier Aeroflot will receive 22 Boeing-787s Dreamliner in 2016 following the company's fleet renewal program, Aeroflot's CEO, Vitaly Savelyev said on Saturday.

"We are expecting to receive 22 Boeing-787 Dreamliners in 2016. And additional 22 Airbus-350 jetliners, that are being developed, will be delivered in 2016 as well," Savelyev said at the meeting with Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin.

Savelyev also said Aeroflot had signed the contracts on the delivery of Russia's new Superjet 100 airliner.

"We are looking forward to [receiving] this aircraft. The contract is for 30 jets, we have already signed the agreement with a leasing company [on the delivery] of the 10 ones," Savelyev said.

The Superjet-100 project is a family of medium-haul passenger aircraft developed by the Sukhoi aircraft maker in cooperation with U.S. and European aviation corporations

Boeing launched the Dreamliner program in 2004. According to its website, 55 customers worldwide have ordered 840 787s, including Russia's Aeroflot.

Dreamliner can carry up to 330 passengers to distances of up to 16,000 kilometers (10,000 miles) and is expected to be some 20% more fuel-efficient than similarly sized airplanes.
