MOSCOW, June 29 (RIA Novosti) - Gold output in Russia grew 37.6%, year-on-year, in January-May 2009 to 57.59 metric tons (1.85 million troy ounces), the Union of Russian Gold Miners said on Monday.
Gold production proper increased 44% to 49.02 metric tons (1.58 million troy ounces), associated gold production went up 10% to 5.93 metric tons (191,000 troy ounces) and secondary gold output grew 9.8% to 2.64 metric tons (84,900 troy ounces), the statement said.
Russia increased gold production 13.3% in 2008, year-on-year, to 184.49 metric tons (5.9 million troy ounces).
