"It is important for us to get the status of a public company," Kaspersky Lab's Business Development Director Vitaly Bezrodnykh said, adding that the IPO would help it participate in international tenders and enter foreign markets to acquire both new entities and technologies.
Kaspersky Lab, which provides protection against computer viruses, worms and other malicious programs, and also against hacker attacks and spams, will offer newly issued shares to investors on the London Stock Exchange and, possibly, on a Russian bourse, Bezrodnykh said.
The company's board of directors will gather in late September to make a final decision on the IPO parameters, Bezrodnykh said.
Kaspersky Lab said earlier it would hold an IPO in 2008-2009.
"The year 2008 is not quite favorable [for the IPO] because elections [of the Russian president] will be held. Most likely, we'll hold the IPO in the spring of 2009 but everything will depend on the stock market situation," Bezrodnykh said.
