SANYA (China), November 1 (RIA Novosti) - Russia is ready to discuss China's involvement in developing oil and gas fields in Eastern Siberia and Russia's Far East, Russian Vice Premier Alexander Zhukov said Tuesday.
"A comprehensive program needs to be drawn up for developing Eastern Siberian and Far East [oil and gas] fields, and we are ready to discuss China's involvement in this program," he said.
Zhukov did not specify what form China's involvement would take, saying there were various possibilities.
Chinese Vice Premier Wu Yi, during a meeting with a Russian delegation to prepare for the upcoming meeting between the country's leaders, said that China is interested in oil and gas exploration and development in Russia.
"I hope that the [Russian] government will create the necessary conditions for such cooperation," she said.
