According to the official, representatives from the Economic Development and Trade Ministry, the Federal Energy Agency, and the Federal Agency for Nuclear Power discussed a draft concept and the future structure of the federal target program (FTP) on increasing the energy efficiency of the economy.
During the meeting, Sergei Mikhailov, deputy department director of the Economic Development and Trade Ministry, said the existing Energy Efficient Economy FTP needed thorough revision. The revised program will focus on the efficiency of energy consumption and the financing of R&D and innovation projects. The participants also discussed the structure of the FTP, possible ways to evaluate its effectiveness, and cooperation with the regions.
In the near future, the ministry will form a joint working group on the development of the program for 2007-2010 that will present its proposals to the Cabinet before October 1, 2005.
