Australia's Climate Change Authority (CCA) Review has led to a split in its top ranks over the country’s climate change commitments, media reported on Tuesday.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) – The main reason for the CCA debate is that its dissenting members do not agree over the level of emission cuts the report aims to achieve, with two of them — economist Clive Hamilton and climate scientist David Karoly — preparing to write their own minority report.

The draft report on Australia’s climate policy, which is set to be released on Wednesday, is the second part of the CCA’s special review aimed at advising the government on how to meet its climate change commitments, including various types of emissions trading schemes.

Australia needs to sign up for carbon emissions cuts by 30 percent by 2025 and 40-60 percent by 2030 in order to be on par with other UN members in attempting to reduce the effects of global warming.
