The lower house of the Russian parliament, the State Duma, announced on Monday an 8.5 million rubles ($250,000) tender for making a documentary film dedicated to the legislature’s 20th anniversary.

MOSCOW, July 1 (RIA Novosti) – The lower house of the Russian parliament, the State Duma, announced on Monday an 8.5 million rubles ($250,000) tender for making a documentary film dedicated to the legislature’s 20th anniversary.

“The State Duma turns 20 in December 2013. … The main aim of the documentary film is to display a new historic stage in Russia through the establishment and the development of the State Suma,” a statement from the State Duma said.

The documentary should contain information about each convocation of the State Duma, about all political parties represented at the house in the latest convocation, as well as the house’s work with foreign governments and parliaments.

Tender bids for the documentary, which must be filmed within a period of eight to 11 weeks, will be accepted by August 29, and the winner will be announced on September 10.

The State Duma replaced the Supreme Soviet as a result of the new Constitution introduced by former President Boris Yeltsin in 1993. Lawmakers of the Duma’s first convocation began their two-year term on December 12 that year.
