Two Rossiya Segodnya special photo correspondents, Valery Melnikov and Vladimir Vyatkin, won a silver and two gold medals at the 10th China International Press Photo Contest.

MOSCOW, April 16 (RIA Novosti) - Two Rossiya Segodnya special photo correspondents, Valery Melnikov and Vladimir Vyatkin, won a silver and two gold medals at the 10th China International Press Photo Contest.

The contest, sponsored by the China Photojournalists Society, is held annually. Over 3,000 photographers from almost 60 countries participated in the contest this year, submitting over 30,000 photographs in eight categories.

Valery Melnikov took home a gold and silver medal in the contest, the gold coming in the portraits category for his photo "Young Coal Miners of Kineb," which he took during a trip to Mali.

Melnikov also took home the silver medal in the People in News Reports category for a series of photos entitled "The Olympic Flame from the Windows of Russian People" taken during the Olympic torch relay across Russia ahead of the Sochi Games.

Vladimir Vyatkin won gold in the Portrait Stories category for his series of photos called "Weightlifting: Energy of High Pressure," taken during the 2013 World University Summer Games in Kazan.
