MOSCOW, February 6 (RIA Novosti) – The RIA Novosti Media Holding and IT-company Atos have released the free mobile application Winter Games, which was created for the Olympic and Paralympic Games in Sochi. The application provides official results and statistics for the Winter Olympics using RIA Novosti multimedia content.

The application is available for iOS, Android and Windows8. Users will be able to keep tabs on all the Olympic events no matter when or where they take place. Viewers will be able to learn Olympic and Paralympic news quickly and will be able to understand the specifics of the events better.

“The application immediately takes data published by R-Sport and the RIA Novosti Photography Desk,” RIA Novosti IT Director Alexander Antonov said. “The app also contains information from the Olympic Data Feed. It allows users to search data by country, sport, through a user customized schedule of the Games, and obtain information about the events at the various venues and share the news on social media. We hope this application will allow sports fans to keep in touch with all the Games’ events.”

For convenience of navigation, the app’s interface contains a number of thematic sections and information services. The section News and Multimedia includes the latest Olympic news, including photo, video and audio reports. The section Live provides access to online text broadcasts. The section Calendar and Results provides a schedule of the events indicating time and place. Users will also be able to access sections on the medal tally, each individual sport, participating countries, teams, arenas, maps and traffic routes between Olympic venues. App data is provided in Russian and in English.

In September 2011, the IOC designated RIA Novosti Group, including the sports news agency R-Sport, host national news agency and photo pool for the Sochi 2014 Olympic Games. In March 2013, RIA Novosti was designated the host national news agency for the Sochi Paralympics.
